The infamous slogan of Great Britain during World War II crises reminding people to stay calm, and try to carry on with life.
Resiliency.
We are all in this together, let's help each other, and we'll all get through it.
These are trying times, folks. A pandemic has been declared which means we really are ALL in this together. It's a great time to remember to stay calm, and carry on with life as best we can regardless of the global virus.
How do we carry on? Do we buy all the toilet paper because it's what we see on social media, and in the news? Yes, you should be stocking up. No, I don't think this means you are adding to the hysteria. Wouldn't you normally be buying your household toilet paper? Soap? Food?
I've been absent from the blog for a few weeks. I found myself with a high fever, chills and an influenza diagnosis. As the sole adult in my household, it was my responsibility to make sure we still had all the essentials to carry on with life. In all honesty, all I wanted to do was stay in bed and sleep. The last thing I wanted to worry about was shopping. But, if there is one thing kids don't care about, it's a sick parent! They still want breakfast, they still need clean laundry and the dogs still need to be fed. I didn't consider it adding to the hysteria by stocking up on a few things so I could avoid going out in public while I was sick. To me, it seemed responsible and better use of my time and efforts. In the end, I was down for 3 weeks. No one else in my house got sick, and I tried very hard to limit my time out of the house. How does this translate to travel?
Now probably isn't the time to take that family trip. Healthy people can carry this virus and pass it along to others. If the pilot, luggage handler, hotel receptionist or restaurant staff are all sick, that doesn't translate to a great adventure. It's one thing to be stuck at home wondering where you're going to buy toilet paper. Imagine if you were stuck in a hotel 2000 miles away with very limited or no options? If you have a vacation already planned and paid for, please note the airlines, cruise companies, hotels, car rental agencies, etc are all offering great options for re-booking your travel. In most cases, they are waiving the usual fees involved with changing your travel plans at the last minute. Even if I wasn't your booking Travel Agent, I will be happy to provide advice and assistance where possible.
Now is a great time to carry on by looking to the future! Take advantage of this epic downward trend in travel by booking something for the future. Some of the travel specials I'm seeing are almost half price and include lots of extra benefits. By looking to the future and booking a vacation now you are not only are you keeping me employed, but you're also helping the airline industry, the cruise industry, the hotel industry, restaurants, rental cars, and even the luggage industry! Every little trip you book affects so many people's livelihoods and I can't think of a better way to show resiliency than planning for the future. Let's talk about your Christmas vacation, or your next winter beach getaway!
